About John Labasano

I'm not a psychologist or a tech executive. I'm a parent — the same as you, probably — who realized one day that my child was growing up in a world I didn't fully understand. This book, and this community, grew out of that.

My hope is that this becomes more than a conversation between an author and a reader — that it becomes a community of parents helping one another

More about John

John Labasano is a writer, researcher, and father passionate about helping families make sense of the digital world. Based in Rome, he is a Filipino-Italian naturalized citizen who brings a global perspective and a practical, real-life approach to modern parenting.

With a background in Philosophy (graduating Cum Laude with a minor in English), John has always been drawn to big questions and meaningful conversations. His roots in publishing run deep: during his academic years, he served as Editor-in-Chief of his college newspaper and yearbook, and founded his school's first literary journal.

Today, his work focuses on helping parents raise confident, resilient children in a world shaped by screens, social media, and constant connectivity. Through two years of dedicated research and practical guidance, he makes complex ideas clear, relatable, and useful for the modern home.

Committed to the highest standards of the craft, John founded The Calling Publishing House to bridge the gap between independent voices and traditional excellence — working to the editorial standards set by veteran editors from houses such as Penguin Random House, HarperCollins, and Bloomsbury. The result is a work that combines heart-led parenting intuition with the polished expertise of the global publishing industry.

At heart, John is still learning — navigating the digital age alongside the very parents he seeks to support.

Bring a real conversation to your community

I'm happiest talking with parents face to face — at a launch, a parent night, a community hall — but I'm just as glad to join your group online, wherever you are in the world. If that sounds like your community, I'd love to come and speak.
